On this evening, Spurwechsel brings together two distinct one-man-band voices for an intimate evening of songwriter-driven music. Behind the Firehouse is the solo project of Vienna-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Michael Smulik, whose music sits at the crossroads of rock and indie-pop. His stripped-down yet powerful live performances are built on strong melodies, textured guitar work, and honest, personal storytelling. Sharing the stage is Doug Andrews, a US-born folk musician whose soulful vocals and skilled fingerpicking define his distinctive Americana sound. Originally from Wyoming and now based in Vienna, Andrews has toured extensively across the US and Europe. His latest album, Movin’ On, reflects his journey of bringing American roots music abroad. Together, these two solo artists create an evening that highlights the versatility and depth of live music –intimate, dynamic, and shaped by stories told through voice and strings.
