“...I am personally very excited about the future career of this exceptional young talent…”
“…. Doug is a gifted musician, singer, and songwriter. He understands the concepts of his craft well beyond his years. One just needs to listen to his first release “Absaraka Runoff” to hear the depth of his talent. His music is deeply rooted in the folk tradition of storytelling and the plight of the every day man and his struggles, but he does it through the eyes of a Wyomingite. To me, Doug is a Wyoming artist in the truest sense as he has seen the world but chooses to create beautiful words and music about what he knows and loves, his home.
On a professional level, as the Director of the Big West Arts Festival at Sheridan College, I have the task of contracting musicians and performers for our two-day event in August each year….. We have a very high caliber of artists in our state and we are always interested in getting new talent to entertain our audience. Doug performed at our festival this past year and instantly became a favorite. He has a warm demeanor and had a good rapport with the crowd along with a strong stage presence. His live performance was very entertaining and he engaged the crowd with his own original music and mixed in some popular covers that he performed in his own unique style. We will definitely be inviting him back to perform at this year’s festival.
As a big fan of folk music, I am personally very excited about the future career of this exceptional young talent….”

“Andrews is an artist of the most genuine sort....”
“…. Early in his musical career, Doug showed great promise as a singer. When he picked up the guitar in high school, it was love at first sight. The aspect of Doug’s musicianship that impresses me most is his dedication and willingness to work. Since the day Doug picked up his first guitar, he has never stopped practicing. His constant study and work to hone his technique have paid huge dividends and greatly impact his current work on the stage and in the studio…. Doug is also an impressive wordsmith. As a songwriter, Doug truly has the poet’s gift. The tracks on his recent album, Absaraka Runoff, clearly illustrate his innate ability to capture the human experience and create strong images through his lyrics. I listen to his songs over and over, marveling at Doug’s capacity to turn a phrase…. All in all, Doug Andrews is an artist of the most genuine sort. He dedicates his entire life to the craft and to entertaining people through song. The quality of his work increases with each passing year and he continues to draw audiences as a musician….”

CD by Hometown Talent Doug Andrews "For Us"
This letter is in praise of our hometown talent, Doug Andrews. His CD
"Absaraka Runoff, " proves he is the product of his soil.
This CD is for us. This is local music that captures our area
beautifully. The images of Main Street, the Big Horns, Java Moon,
rural life, and the Mint Bar have all seeped into Doug's songs.
His comfortable melodies and chords reflect either the easy, reliable
pace of our town, or the joyfully bumpy rides in the country. Each
tune is sung with an incredibly true, rich voice supported by tasteful
finger picking.
The overall sound of the CD is warm and clear, two coveted traits that
are hard to capture when recording yourself, and the music is down to
earth and accessible.
Most of the songs have themes of struggle, both day-to-day and
lifelong, as well as moments of rejoicing in the transcendence from
that struggle. These themes come to life through the stories of
working people or slick parables of spring runoff and forest fire.
There is a great deal of hope in the lyrics. When the struggle seems
overwhelming or pointless, the singer reaches to his Wyoming
resiliency and finds a way to persevere.
"Absaraka Runoff" is a treasure and a great addition to our precious
local culture. Thank you, Doug, for your hard work and thoughtfulness.
